Three Michelin starred chefs, the debut of the first female Chef on board, who cooks together with another star rising star, also a very much awaited Chef return to Portuguese lands, make the Presidential train return to the railway that dance along the Douro Valley, reaffirming its position as the best luxury experience in Portugal.

Chef Miguel Laffan

With a very proactive approach in the kitchen, the insistent, decisive and rigorous research, lead Miguel Laffan to achieve a cuisine of excellence. The balance of his kitchen is his greatest reference, in which the freshness of the products is paired with the mental freshness of who transforms them. He has managed luxury teams, but since 2011 is executive chef of L'AND Vineyard's, reaching the first Michelin star of the Alentejo region. For Laffan, it is the history, the Age of Discoveries and encounter of the different exotic regions that make Portuguese cuisine unique, leading the chef to reinterpret contemporary roots of Portuguese gastronomic culture.

The French Vincent Farges has an enviable international path, traveling award-winning restaurants all over Europe, thus widening his horizons. He returned to high gastronomy in Portugal and is now with his latest project, EPUR in Chiado. A minimalist but sophisticated cuisine lead him to gather several inspirations that culminate in flavors full of senses and stories.

From Montemor-o-Velho, Tiago Bonito bets on a kitchen of real inspiration, where all the dishes tell a story. With a connected to the earth heritage, its flavours fuse in the respect of the seasonality, the Chef closely follows the process of the ingredient choosing. With a look on the reminiscences of the Portuguese kitchen, Tiago Bonito reinvents it, incorporating it in its experiences and memories.

Chefs Ana Moura & Manuel Maldonado

The Rising Stars segment of The Presidential is back, and in line with the premise of the train - combining the old with the irreverence of the new - once again in a four-way weekend.

Ana Moura, the first woman to prepare the tasting menu aboard The Presidential, traded her degree in Marketing for a promising future as a Chef. She made her debut at age 23, and from an early age she learned to take over a predominantly male world. Marked flavours full of unusual conjugations, result in reference dishes from the author's kitchen.

The young chef Manuel Maldonado assumes himself as a lover of fire and ember. The concept of his kitchen perfectly combines creativity and irreverence, but he recovers the primitivism of preparation techniques, in a balanced journey between the outside of the box and the inside of the fire. He is currently one of the 100 Maneiras’s Chefs.

Chef João Oliveira

Since 2015, João Oliveira is the executive Chef of VISTA Restaurant, conquering in 2017 his first Michelin Star. Born in Porto, his passion for cooking, makes him one of the most dynamic and dedicated chefs of the new generation. With the desire to respect all the original flavours of each food and its freshness, the result culminates in a distinct and memorable gastronomic experience.

The proud kitchen and service teams are staffed by a selection of area professionals who have the privilege and responsibility to serve this unique meal.

The old Kitchen

The beautiful kitchen of another era gave way to a new space, specially designed for this train and for these complex missions. The current equipment has the signature of Küppersbusch. The china is Vista Alegre and the crystals are Riedel. As the occasion demands!
